It's raining...indoors

So when we moved in the previous owners had put in a skylight over the shower in the bathroom. This was a nice perk when showering, looking at the trees, moon, clouds, passing airplanes... There was some evidence that it had been wet before, but I thought that was all fixed with the new work done on the bathroom and we did have one minor leak that I fixed with roofing cement back when the weather was nicer. Well, now when it rains, really rains, it starts leaking in the corner, and not in a nice convenient, next to the glass kind of way that would be easy to fix. Nope. The water is taking the path of least resistance and going down the inside of the roof, through the drywall and coming out at the bottom of the skylight tunnel. Unfortunately, with the weather being in the mid 30's here in Seattle, and rainy and dark I haven't got a chance to fix this issue.

Anyone out there have suggestions on leaking skylights?

  • Sorry, Nick, no suggestions on how to help. I just wanted to let you know that I discovered your blog by virtue of houseblogs member map. I hail from Portland and wanted to see what others in the Pacific NW were up to. Good luck with your leak! I can relate to how challenging it is to deal with these kinds of problems in the wet and the dark. I look forward to seeing more pictures of your projects....
